New York State Disability Benefits
If you suffer from an injury or illness that is not work-related, and you are not currently receiving workers’ compensation benefits for another injury or illness that is work-related, you may still be eligible to receive certain weekly wage loss benefit payments under Article 9 of the New York Workers’ Compensation Law for up to 26 weeks of disability during 52 consecutive weeks.
It should be noted that any disabling non-work related injury or illness should be reported to the employer within 30 days after the occurrence.
